The ongoing annual Brahmotsavam at Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Temple in Appalayagunta, Andhra Pradesh, witnessed Hindu deity Venkateswara as Lord Krishna on a Chandraprabha Vahanam (moon carrier) on Sunday, June 23. The devotees were blessed by the Srinivasa (Lord Venkateswara) as he came in the form of lord Krishna mounted on the moon carrier. A large number of devotees visited the temple in Appalayagunta to seek blessings on the seventh day of Barhmotsavam. Tirumala Temple Deputy EO Shri Govindarajan, AEO Shri Ramesh, Superintendent Shrivani, and Temple Inspector Shri Siva Kumar also participated in this program. It is believed that Swami Venkateswara takes pleasure in the moon vehicle due to its healing properties.

On the same day in the Morning, Lord Venkateswara was observed in Govardhanagirdhar’s (Govardhan mountain) decoration mounted on Surya Prabha Vahanam (Sun Carrier) at Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Temple, Appalayagunta.

The worshippers believe that Lord Surya is the healer and the energiser of nature. The moon, the auspicious one, also exists because of the sun. In the ongoing Brahmotsavam festival at Appalayagunta Temple, the sun around lord Venkateswara is believed to be the owner of all beings, hence also called Suryanarayan by many.

The sun vehicle is worshipped for a long and healthy life by the devotees. Many devotees tend to worship Lord Venkateswara in the morning as it carries many benefits.

Temple AEO Sri Ramesh, Superintendent Srivani, Temple Inspector Sri Sivakumar, Kankana Bhattar Sri Surya Kumar Acharya and a large number of devotees participated in the Suryaprabha Vahanam of Lord Venkateswara on Sunday morning. The colourful dance performances by various artists in front of the Vahanam added additional grandeur to the Vahanam procession.

Rathotsavam will be held today, June 24. At 9 in the morning, Swami performs the Ratharohanam. From 9.25 am to 11 am, the devotees will visit the four Mada streets of the temple on a chariot. From 7 to 8 pm, Swami will be mounted on a horse and bless his devotees.
