PV Sindhu created history by entering the semis, while Saina Nehwal and P Kashyap were ousted.

On day four of the World Badminton Championships at Guangzhou, China, the Indian trio of Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu are Parupalli Kashyap were all competing in the singles quarter-finals. Here's how it unfolded:

17:19 PV Sindhu beats China's Wang Shixian 21-18, 21-17 to move into the semi-finals. Big win for India, especially after the disappointing defeats for Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap.

Sindhu now is assured of a medal, the first woman singles player from India to do so and third overall after Prakash Padukone and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa.
