Aruna Roy quits as member of NAC
IAS officer-turned-activist Aruna Roy quit the National Advisory Council on Tuesday.

New Delhi: IAS officer-turned-activist Aruna Roy quit as member of National Advisory Council on Tuesday.

She said that she would now focus on the National Campaign for People's Right to Information (NCPRI).

Roy, who is well-known for her work in rural India, said that she would also work for the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

The Magsaysay awardee also intends to carry forward her protest the non-implementation of National Common (NCMP).

Among other things, the government has committed in the CMP that "The Right to Information Act will be made more progressive, participatory and meaningful."
