The AIYF activists in Ernakulam have demanded a vigilance probe into the lamp post flex board corruption in the city.
AIYF district secretary T C Sanjith conducted a press conference on Monday demanding the immediate suspension of the Corporation town planning standing committee chairman K J Sohan. According to them, the town planning committee chairman and the Corporation members have maintained a stony silence which shows they are also party to the corruption that is occurring in a big way in the city.
“The Corporation is yet to receive `56,57,510 from the N M Enterpriser company. Even though the company was issued a notice to submit the sum last year based on the councillors’ demand, they have not yet complied to. The chairman was keeping mum letting the company off the hook. This is a very serious issue. That is why we demand his immediate suspension,” AIYF district secretary T C Sanjith said. Currently, the company has only received `8,42,490.
Based on this, the AIYF members will stage a march to the Corporation office on October 17. “If the Corporation is not willing to yield, we will move forward strongly with the plans for a strike,” he said. Corporation Councillor C A Shakeer, state committee member Santhosh Peter, constituencey secretary V S Sunil Kumar were present.
