ROURKELA: With several cases of diarrhoea being reported at the district headquarters town of Sundargarh and monsoon round the corner, the administration is leaving nothing to chance. District collector Rupa Roshan Sahu convened a meeting of senior administrative and health officials and reviewed measures to check spread of gastroenteritis across the district.The house stressed stepping up the sanitation drive and supply of clean drinking water. They insisted on measures to disinfect drinking water sources and educating rural folks on safeguards to be followed while using water from tubewell, open well and streams.The house laid onus on school authorities to report cases of gastroenteritis on daily basis. Among others, CDMO Bikrant Kindo, Sub-Collectors Bimalendu Roy and RK Patnaik, Sundargarh and Rourkela ADMs PK Lenka and PC Sethi were present. The Sundargarh district headquarters hospital has received over 60 patients of gastroenteritis since June 6. While most of them belong to the neighbourhood of Sundargarh town, the spread of the disease is being attributed to consumption of contaminated water.
