THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘L’Homme Semence,’ (‘The Seed Giver’), a dance-drama compilation, will be presented at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan on March 18. The event is being organised jointly by the Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum in association with the French Embassy. L’Homme Semence is a production adapted from the autobiographical story of Violette Ailhaud. In 1852, a village in the Basses-Alpes region of France was deprived of men by the repression that followed the Republican uprising against Napoleon III. The women of the village passed two years in total isolation. They vowed that if a man came to their village, he would be their common husband, so that life can continue in the wombs of each of them. The women thought of and planned out everything, except the possibility of falling in love. ‘The Seed Giver’ is the disturbing real-life account of one of the women, Violette Ailhaud (1835-1925), AFT officials said in a statement. The production of ‘The Seed Giver’ resulted from an encounter between two French artistes living in India; actress Anne Bressanges and danseuse Nancy Boissel Cormier.
