6 held for Kokku Babu murder

PUDUCHERRY: Six persons were arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of Babu alias ‘Kokku’ Babu here on Friday night.The arrested persons included Jeyam Susairaja, Guru Diwagar, Prakash, Steephenraj, Thiagarajan and Raja. Three others wanted in connection with the murder are absconding.According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) V J Chandiran, the accused, including Susairaj murdered ‘Kokku’ Babu in front of a house on 11th Cross, J J Nagar in Moolakulam.  Previous enmity could have led to the murder, the SSP added. Babu had reportedly tried to finish off Susairaj in July last year. A special police team, led by Mudaliarpet circle inspector C Maran and Special Task Force (STF) inspector V Balakrishnan, nabbed the six persons near Villianur on Saturday. The weapons allegedly used for the murder were also recovered. They were remanded on Sunday. Efforts were on to nab Modi, John Alexander and Ecko John for their involvement, the top police official said.
