10,000 security personnel to guard Delhi on Independence Day
Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert for Delhi during this Independence day weekend.

New Delhi: On the eve of Independence Day celebrations, unprecedented security measures have been put in place in the national capital.

Ten thousand security personnel have been deployed around the Red Fort. Three km radius around the Red Fort will be completely sanitized as well as the entire route covered by CCTV cameras.

Unmanned aerial vehicles will be used for security and help will also be sought from the Indian Air Force. Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert for Delhi during this Independence day weekend. Special checking of vehicles at the border points is also scheduled.

Traffic will also be diverted at places around Red Fort.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AROUND RED FORT

Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail, Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail, Link Road from Esplanade Road to Netaji Subhash Marg, SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk and Chandni Chowk from Fountain to Red Fort Chowk as well as New Darya Ganj Road from Ring Road will be closed for general traffic from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM and only labeled vehicles will be permitted.

ROADS THAT MAY BE AVOIDED

Those vehicles that do not have parking labels for Independence Day rehearsal may avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizammuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge and can take any of the following routes.

Those traveling from North to South Delhi can find these routes useful: Aurobindo Marg - Safdarjang Road - Mother Teresa Crescent - Park Street - Mandir Marg - Panchkuian Road - Rani Jhansi Road and reach their destinations in North Delhi and vice-versa.

The other route that can be taken is Connaught Place - Minto Road - Bhavbhuti Marg - Ajmeri Gate - Shradhanand Marg - Lahori Gate Chowk - Naya Bazar - Peeli Kothi - SP Mukherjee Marg and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa.

The other way is to reach Nizamuddin Bridge to cross Yamuna then Marginal Band Road via GT Road and cross over to ISBT and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa.
