What is a “snatched body”?
A “snatched body” is an attractive body or well-defined figure. Having a “snatched body” is a compliment, as “snatched” is slang for “attractive,” “fine,” or “on point.” If someone says, “You’re snatched!” or “You have a snatched body,” they’re saying, “You look good!” The term is widely used across social media platforms like TikTok to emphasize a curvy figure or toned look. For example, if a friend says you look “snatched” in your prom dress, you look like a million bucks! If someone says, “Girl, you have a snatched body!” or “Friend, how can I get a snatched waist like yours?” they’re complimenting your figure or physique.
“Snatched Body” Origins
The term “snatched” originated in the Black community. Before “snatched” became an internet slang word, it was a compliment from one Black woman to another. The term proudly defines all body types as attractive. In other words, if someone is “snatched” they look amazing.
The LGBTQ+ community helped popularize “snatched.” The usage of this popular slang term dates before social media for those in the LGBTQ+ community. Similarly to the Black community, “snatched” is used to describe a look, outfit, or person that’s hot or attractive.
“Snatched body” became popular during the “slim thick” movement. All body types are becoming mainstream, thanks to social media! Diet fads and toxic beauty standards are slowly becoming a thing of the past as women all over the world are embracing their natural curves. “Snatched body” started gaining traction with “#slimthicc,” as women with slim waists and larger hips and thighs started posting their outfits and fitness goals. Along with “#slimthicc,” women tagged their posts with “#snatched,” “#snatchedbody,” or “#snatchedwaist” to find their target audience and hop on the trend.
How to Use “Snatched Body”
Compliment a friend. Tell your friend they looked “snatched” to say, “You look fine!” This is a popular way to express admiration for someone’s physique, outfit, or overall look. Basically, you’re giving them kudos! “Girl, you look so snatched!” “You have a snatched body. I’m jealous.” “With that snatched waist? Girl, no one is going to be able to look away!”
Tag a fitness or outfit post on social media. Use “#snatchedbody” on TikTok or Instagram to promote a video or picture of you looking your absolute best. Maybe you want to highlight your gym gains or the waist-cinching dress you wore last night. Either way, “#snatchedbody” is a great way to gain social media traction and seem confident. “This booty doesn’t just happen overnight ???? #snatchedbody” “Loving this new dress ???? #snatchedbody” “Me and the girls looking fineeeee #snatchedbody”
How to Get a “Snatched Body”
Maintain a healthy diet. Fueling your body with the proper nutrients is an excellent way to get a “snatched body.” Experts recommend eating complex carbohydrates and high-fiber food to help slim down your waist. For example: Swap white rice with brown rice. Add more beans and vegetables to your plate. Snack on almonds, popcorn, and apples. Switch regular potatoes with sweet potatoes.
Work out your core. Looking to get that “snatched waist” or hourglass figure? Try adding more core workouts to your regular exercise routine! Ab exercises strengthen and tighten your stomach muscles and may be able to tone and cinch your waistline. Hold yourself up in a reverse plank to target your glutes, back, and stomach muscles. Raise your hips in a bridge pose to stretch and strengthen your core. Stretch the opposite leg and arm out in a tabletop pose to lengthen and tighten your core muscles. Lie on your back with your knees and feet up and move your legs in a bicycle-like motion to target your lower abs.
Wear waist-cinching clothes. If you want a “snatched body,” draw attention to your physique by wearing clothes that accentuate your waist and hips. For instance: Give a baggier dress more shape with a belt. Look for clothes with tighter or gathered fabric around the waist or bust line. Opt for bodycon dresses and skirts that hug your waist and hips. Pick A-line silhouettes that have a tighter waist and flared skirt.
Be confident in your own skin! At the end of the day, the best way to get “snatched” is to love yourself. You are beautiful inside and out; the more you realize that, the more confident you’ll be. So, how do you become more confident in your body? Check out these tips: Unfollow or mute any content on social media that makes you feel insecure. Focus on what your body allows you to do rather than focusing on how it looks. Define yourself outside of your appearance—what makes your personality shine? Listen to your body and give it what it needs to thrive. Wear what you feel comfortable and confident in.
