Kolkata: Reigning champions Atletico de Kolkata got into serious business as head coach Antonio Habas on Tuesday met consultant Bhaichung Bhutia to discuss about domestic players ahead of the ISL football tournament's domestic draft scheduled to take place in Mumbai on July 10.
The Spanish ISL winning coach, whose contract was renewed for the upcoming season, checked in this morning and without wasting anytime he called on the Indian football icon, who has a in-depth knowledge about the domestic players.
"It was a wonderful discussion between the duo. Habas spoke to Bhutia at length and sought to know about the profiles of various domestic players," a top ATK official told PTI.
He however said there was no discussion on marquee players and added it would be announced with a few days time.
The head coach will have a formal interaction with the team owners -- Sanjiv Goenka, Harshavardhan Neotia, Utsav Parekh and Sourav Ganguly -- on Wednesday before addressing the media.
Expressing confidence on their team formation for the second season of the ISL, Ganguly said: "I would attend the draft in Mumbai. Our team this season is stronger than the last time. We're going in the right direction, hope to continue the good show of last season."
According to sources, ATK is keen to rope in I-League reigning champions Mohun Bagan's goalkeeper Debjit Majumder besides a host of local players.
The ISL defending champions are yet to announce their marquee player and Ganguly said it would happen within a few days.
Habas will return to Mumbai after the players draft and would join the team for a pre-season camp which is yet to be announced.
