Sunil Grover Reveals Family's Reaction to His Chemistry With Ranbir: 'They Had to Adjust...' | Exclusive
In the season 2 premiere, Sunil Grover, dressed as his character Dafli, hilariously posed as Ranbir Kapoor's 'ex' during his interaction with Alia Bhatt.

Sunil Grover created quite a buzz with his appearance in the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. His return alongside Kapil Sharma after seven years caught everyone’s attention, but it was his playful chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor that made the headlines. Their memorable interaction from the first season was even revisited in the second season’s premiere, this time with Alia Bhatt as the guest.

In the season 2 premiere, Sunil, dressed as his character Dafli, hilariously posed as Ranbir’s ‘ex’ during his interaction with Alia. In the episode, Kapil set up the scene by telling Alia, “There was a girl in Ranbir’s life.” Alia, intrigued, replied, “Oh, is it?” Kapil then asked her permission to call this mysterious ex on stage. With Alia’s consent, Kapil introduced Dafli, leaving Alia in splits. Sunil, in character, even sang a breakup song, which had everyone, including Alia, laughing.

While fans and Alia enjoyed the viral moment, News18 Showsha asked Sunil how his family reacted to the hilarious scene. Sunil revealed that his family understands the nature of the show and doesn’t mind his comedic antics. “They know the reality, I don’t wear sarees like that (laughs). They’re happy and okay with it, no issues. They had to adjust a little, though (laughs),” he shared.

Rajiv Thakur, who was also part of the interview, couldn’t resist teasing Sunil. The IC 814: Kandahar Hijack actor jokingly asked Sunil if his wife ever questions him when she can’t find her sarees. Sunil played along, joking that he only borrows her old sarees. When asked if his family ever teases him about cross-dressing for the show, Sunil laughed and said, “No one minds. Initially, my son felt a little awkward, but now he’s fine with it.”

In addition to Dafli, Sunil portrays several other quirky characters on The Great Indian Kapil Show, including an aircraft mechanical engineer who often gets a bit ‘too comfortable’ with the guests.

The Great Indian Kapil Show drops new episodes every Saturday on Netflix.
