Today let’s take a look at the success story of brother and sister duo Sachin and Nandini.

According to reports, Sachin and Nandini secured 18th and first rank, respectively, in the CA Final in the year 2021. Nandini had made another record. She also held the Guinness World Record for becoming the youngest CA. At that time, Nandini was just 19 years old and her brother was 21 years old.

This brother-sister duo had prepared for CA together. Both studied in the same coaching class. After this, they also did articles in the same city. Finally, both of them became toppers together. Nandini scored 614 out of 800 marks (76.75 per cent) in the CA Final and Sachin scored 568 marks. Nandini got the number-1 rank in the CA Final among 83000 candidates.

This brother-sister duo was also a topper in school. The siblings are students of Victor Convent School and topped the Morena district in 2017 by securing 94.5% marks in 12th grade. Their father, Naresh Chandra Gupta, is a tax practitioner and their mother is a homemaker.

In an interview, Sachin says that it was decided in the seventh grade that they would become CAs. After the 12th, they cleared the first level Common Proficiency Test (CPT) of the CA course. For CA Intermediate, they first went to Delhi in search of coaching. However, after self-study for a long time, it seemed difficult to sit among 1000 students. Therefore, they decided to opt for online coaching. Which helped them to study in their flow.

He also shared tips to pass the CA exam:

1. Start preparing thoroughly six to seven months before the exam.

2. Finish lectures as early as possible to focus on self-study.

3. Study through ICAI modules, previous question papers and revision test papers.

4. Prepare a proper plan and stick to it.

5. Followed target-based study plan

6. Old papers solved in the second revision

Sachin and Nandini followed a target-based study plan for the CA exam instead of a time-based study plan. They set a study target every day. When the study leave started, the first thing they did was complete all the pending lectures. The first subject they chose in December was taxation. They studied it for 15 days each, covering one practical and one theory subject. Since there were eight subjects in the exam at that time, they completed their first revision in two months. They looked at the modules and previous papers of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and made some notes.

In the second revision, they solved the previous year’s papers. This helped them to know which areas needed more focus. Sachin says that in this revision, we set a target of 10 days for two subjects. After this, we solved some mock test papers in the first week of the exam. The professors helped us with language, format, templates and paper presentations. Nandini says that her companionship also helped a lot. This also solved the problem of distraction.
