The majority of the youth dream of securing a government job for themselves and hence they try to appear for various central and state government jobs available in the country. One of the most popular and challenging exams is the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Lakhs of aspirants apply every year in hopes of becoming an Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Internal Revenue Service, Indian Police Service or Indian Foreign Service Officers. On February 14, UPSC released CSE Prelims Notification 2024. Interested candidates must submit their application online at upsconline.nic.in and upsc.gov.in. However, before filing up for the UPSC CSE Prelims, candidates must carefully go through the educational qualification, age limit, nationality and number of attempts. Candidate must hold a graduate degree from any recognised University.

The application deadline for the UPSC Prelims exam is March 5. The exams will be held on May 26. Candidates who clear this round can apply for UPSC Mains 2024 which will be held in September.

The age limit of the candidate has also been issued. A candidate must be 21 years old, while the maximum age limit is 32 years. For the reserved category, the maximum age limit has been given relaxations. For OBCs, SC and ST categories, candidates are be given a relaxation of 3 to 5 years.

How Many Times Can a Candidate Apply for the Exam?

A candidate can apply for the UPSC exam more than once. The number of attempts has been fixed differently for different sections in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. General or EWS category candidates are allowed to take the test six times, while OBCs and Disabled category candidates are allowed 9 attempts. However, for the SC and ST categories, there is no limit.

Educational Qualifications

A candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject but from a recognised Central or State Government University or under Section 3 of the UGC ACT 1956.
