The University Grants Commission (UGC) has officially released the dates for the GO4Youth Olympiad 2024. Organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and supported by the UGC, Ministry of Education (MoE), and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), this annual event aims to foster environmental consciousness and aptitude among students in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India.

Aspiring participants can mark their calendars as the registration for GO4Youth Olympiad 2024 commences on January 31, with the deadline for applications set for February 25.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Supreme Court has mandated the incorporation of environmental studies at the undergraduate level. The GO4Youth Olympiad emerged as a key initiative, supplementing this directive by focusing on interdisciplinary environmental education, equipping students aged 18-25 with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle complex environmental challenges.

Scheduled to take place online from April 8 to 12, 2024, the GO4Youth Olympiad emphasises creating awareness surrounding environmental and sustainability issues. This unique interdisciplinary program aims to engage students and assess their understanding of crucial topics such as climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, conservation of biological diversity, and sustainable development.

The GO4Youth Olympiad 2024 will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) lasting 50 minutes, featuring 50 questions. The medium of the Olympiad is English. The examination evaluates participants’ awareness and comprehension of key environmental facets.

Engaging in the GO4Youth Olympiad promises a range of benefits for students:

– E-certificates for all participants.

– Merit and distinction e-certificates for top-ranking participants.

– Cash awards for the top three positions.

– Membership in TERI’s youth network.

– Internship opportunities at TERI and other esteemed institutes.

– Enhancement of participants’ environment portfolio.

The UGC encourages universities to actively participate in the GO4Youth Olympiad, underscoring the potential to enrich the academic experience for students and reinforce institutional commitment to producing environmentally conscious and socially responsible graduates.

GO4Youth was launched alongside the GREEN Olympiad. It is an annual MCQ-based examination evaluating students’ environmental consciousness, behavior, and aptitude. With an interdisciplinary approach, the examination covers vital information about Mission LiFE and other national priority schemes, engaging students in a competitive process to text their awareness of critical environmental issues.
