A parent of a class 9 student of a top CBSE school in Bengaluru North has filed a complaint with the city’s Cyber Crime Cell complaining that AI-generated nude images of their teenage daughter and at least one other student have been posted online. Morphed images of the 15-year-old girls first started circulating on the school’s unofficial Instagram group which has over 50 members on the 24th of this month.
The girl’s parents suspect that the perpetrators extracted images of her face from her Instagram page before creating AI-generated nudes and posting them on the group using a fake ID. They also suspect that it could be someone who knows the girl as she had a private account and the Instagram group was a closed one.
While the cyber cell has started to track down the IP address, the school has assured the parents that an internal investigation will be conducted.
It is suspected that the victim’s fellow schoolmate has done this act while the school was closed for summer break. Parents of the girl and student who committed this act have been summoned by the school.
‘The parents of the girl and suspected students are meeting. Let’s see what they decide. It’s a sensitive matter, has to be handled carefully,’ said a source aware of the developments.
