WATCH: Tilak Varma Becomes Superman, Takes A Flying Catch In Duleep Trophy
Tilak jumped to his right to take a stunning catch and bring an end to Baba Indrajith's innings. The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Prasidh Krishna.

Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma, who has played in four ODIs and 16 T20Is for India so far, was in action for India A against India C on Sunday (September 22) in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match. On the fourth and final day’s play of the third-round match in Anantapur, Varma completed a sensational catch of India C batter Baba Indrajith to take his side closer to a big win.

The incident took place during the 2nd ball of the 80th over India C’s second innings, which was bowled by Prasidh Krishna. The pacer sent a shorter delivery towards the off-stump, which caught the upper edge of Indrajith’s bat. With the ball deflecting towards the leg slip, Tilak pounced on the opportunity for a successful dismissal.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Domestic took to X to share a video of the lightning-fast reaction from Tilak.

“WHAT A CATCH! Tilak Varma pulls off a spectacular catch to dismiss Baba Indrajith. India A are just one wicket away from a win,” read the post.

Indrajith was the ninth India C batter to get out in the match. The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer had come out to bat at No. 10 for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first innings of the match. He was retired out for 34 runs from 61 balls in the first inning.

Battling the physical setback, Indrajith returned to the crease in the second inning to help India C avoid defeat, but his heroic effort was short-lived as Tilak’s catch sent him packing for a two-ball duck.

Over a week ago, Tilak had also suffered a similar fate at the hands of India D skipper Shreyas Iyer. Iyer controlled his nerves to produce a moment of fielding genius. During Day 1 of the India A-India D match in Anantapur, Tilak was forced into an uncomfortable position by a well-executed good-length delivery from Saransh Jain. The ball ended up grazing Tilak’s bat and flew towards the slip cordon. In a flash, Shreyas dived to his low right to complete a stunning catch.

Tilak, who missed out on a place in India A’s playing XI for the first match against India B at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, amassed a total of 145 runs in two matches of the Duleep Trophy 2024. He scored an unbeaten century in the second innings of India A’s match against India D.
