Rishabh Pant has been officially cleared by the BCCI to make his on-field return as wicketkeeper-batter after undergoing extensive rehab to recover from injuries of a horrific car accident in December 2022.
A video has now gone viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that captured the raw power with which Pant smashed a six during his training session at the Delhi Capitals’ pre-season camp.

On Tuesday, cricket fans across the country were treated with a positive piece of news as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Pant would participate in the upcoming edition of IPL as both a wicketkeeper and a batter. There had been speculation regarding what role the 26-year-old would play and whether his body will be able to handle the workload.
With the T20 World Cup scheduled for June 2024, BCCI secretary Jay Shah gave a major update earlier this week regarding Pant’s chances of being picked for the Indian team.
“He is batting well, he is keeping well. We will declare him fit very soon. If he can play in the T20 World Cup for us, that will be a big thing for us. He is a big asset for us. If he can keep, he can play in the World Cup. Let’s see how he does in the IPL,” Jay Shah was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
Recently, during an interview, Pant recalled how he kept himself sane during the frustrating time he spent away from the cricket field.
“I was sad because I was going through a very good time. But I had to ensure I didn’t pity myself. That’s how I was keeping myself sane. I don’t want to think that I am taking a fresh guard or I am making my debut all over again or I just had a break. I just want to feel how it is to be on the ground again. I need that feeling from within that I am just continuing with my career,” Pant told The Times of India.
Pant has played 98 IPL games, scoring 2,838 runs which include one century and 15 half-centuries.
