Rohit Sharma, the Indian Test skipper is making his way to Bengaluru for the first Test against New Zealand.

Team India will be looking to maintain their dominant run of form ahead of the coming three-match Test series against New Zealand starting on October 16. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma is on his way to Bengaluru which will host the first Test between the two sides.

In a video uploaded on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Indian captain can be seen making his way out of his car and possibly heading to the airport.

Rohit has been outstanding as a captain where he has showcased a new level of hunger when it comes to winning, even if the situation might be against his side. This was particularly evident during the second Test against Bangladesh where the Indian team managed to come back from an unlikely scenario to claim the win and whitewash the next-door neighbours.

With New Zealand, India will face a better test of their abilities. It is to be noted that Rohit and Co would be looking to win all three games in order to take them to the brink of securing a spot in the World Test Championship 2024-25 final.

The Indian unit could also miss out on the services of Rohit for a game or two during the New Zealand series or even during the Australia tour, later this year due to personal issues.

In Rohit’s absence, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced that Jasprit Bumrah could lead the side as he was named as the vice-captain of the Indian squad that will take on New Zealand.

The BCCI named a 15-man squad which includes all the players that played in the Bangladesh Test series barring Yash Dayal. The Kiwis, on the other hand, will likely not have Kane Williamson taking part as he is undergoing rehabilitation for a groin strain he suffered recently. Mark Chapman will take his place in the squad.

The first Test will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This would be followed by the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune playing host for the second game beginning on October 24 and finally the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the final match of the series.
