England skipper Jos Buttler led his side from the front and guided the defending champions to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. Buttler’s unbeaten 83 off 38 balls helped England defeat co-hosts USA by 10 wickets in Barbados. England had to win the game in 18.4 overs to ensure that their net run rate was above that of South Africa. It would have also confirmed England’s direct qualification into the semis and Buttler did exactly that. Buttler was in majestic form against the USA and his power-packed knock comprised seven sixes. Buttler did not take much time to get in the groove and in the third over of the game the English skipper was found hitting two back-to-back marvellous maximums facing USA’s left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar.
A video of Jos Buttler’s two glorious sixes was shared by the official broadcasters of the T20 World Cup 2024 Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter).

On the fourth delivery of the third over, Jos Buttler played a terrific shot over the sightscreen and the ball landed straight onto the roof. Facing the next ball, Buttler came up with a one-handed stroke over the wide long-on region for another maximum.
Jos Buttler kept on his onslaught throughout the innings and produced five sixes in the ninth over produced by USA’s Harmeet Singh. Buttler hit four consecutive sixes and capped off the over with another maximum on the final delivery to ensure England’s smooth victory.
“We paid USA a lot of respect, but we talked a lot about our intensity and if we thought if we took it on the field we’d be too good. You have to got to earn the right to begin with, start well and once we got through a few overs we decided to target this side with the wind,” Jos Buttler said as per BBC.
In the bowling unit, English pacer Chris Jordan was the star performer of his side having registered brilliant figures of 4/10 in 2.5 overs against the USA. Jordan even claimed a hat-trick which turned out to be England’s first in men’s T20I cricket. The USA were bowled out for a paltry total of 115 in 18.5 overs.
