Popularly referred to as the ‘Hitman’ by his fans, Rohit’s origin takes us to the Indian city of Nagpur. Born to Gurunath and Purnima Sharma in 1987, a young Rohit developed an early interest in cricket. Rohit made his List A debut in February 2006 for the West Zone in the Deodhar Trophy.

After an impactful stint in the tournament, the Indian opener made his first-class debut a year later against New Zealand in July 2006. Rohit’s debut for India came in 2007.

  3. 209 vs Australia, 2013During his early years in international cricket, Rohit Sharma produced a memorable double-hundred against Australia. The match took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in November 2013 and Rohit had smashed 209 runs in 158 balls in that game against the Aussies. He belted 12 boundaries and 16 sixes to guide India to a mammoth total of 383. India had won the contest by 57 runs.
