Bangladesh Cricketer Mehidy Hasan Miraz Stung by Wasp On Day 4 of 2nd Test in Kanpur
Mehidy Hasan Miraz received treatment after being stung by a wasp during Day 4 of the 2nd Test against India in Kanpur.

If dealing with the charged-up India bowlers wasn’t a challenge enough, Bangladesh batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz needed team physio’s attention as the lunch interval approached because, wait for it, he was stung by a wasp!

Yup, add it to your list of bizarre incidents ever to happen on a cricket field.

Mehidy walked in to bat following the dismissal of Shakib Al Hasan and gotten himself a streaky boundary courtesy a bottom edge off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja as the ball went past the wicketkeeper.

After playing out a maiden over from offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin, the 26-year-old Mehidy was soon pictured getting treatment on his knee. Water was being poured over the area of concern.

After a short delay, the batter looked good to resume his innings.

Meanwhile, Mominul Haque peeled off a fine century as Bangladesh reached 205/6 in 65 overs when the lunch break was taken at Green Park on Monday.

Mominul, dropped on 96, went on to complete his century with a boundary off Ashwin. Alongside him is Mehidy batting on 6.

After two days of no cricket thanks to rain and damp field, the two teams finally took the field under a bright Kanpur sky. Bangladesh lost three wickets in the session with Jasprit Bumrah landing the first blow of the day when he cleaned up veteran Mushfiqur Rahim on 11.

Later, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj pulled off stunning catches to get rid of Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan respectively.

Litton perished while aiming to clear Rohit at mid-off but the India captain leapt and pulled off a one-handed catch to put an end to his innings on 13.

On the other hand, Shakib went for a poor aerial shot before Mohammed Siraj at mid-off backpedaled and upon realising he won’t get underneath the ball, arched backwards to take a stunning one-handed catch.

India lead the two-match series 1-0.
