During her final year of school, she undertook a few modelling assignments with her classmates for a Malayalam magazine. Director Bharathiraja discovered her through the magazine and subsequently offered her a role in Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu. Following her marriage, she relocated to Singapore, where she is presently engaged in acting in Singaporean serials and short films.

Rudra is best known for films like Manichithrathazhu, Dhruvam and Aayushkalam.
