Madras High Court Bans Illegal Release Of Karthi-starrer Japan
The makers had filed a petition to the government to stop its illegal release on websites and cable TV channels.

In recent developments, the Tamil film Japan faces a ban on its illegal release, with the production company Dream Warrior Pictures filing a petition to curb its unauthorised distribution on websites and cable TV channels. The plea, submitted to the government and private internet service providers, seeks to prevent the film’s illicit release on approximately 1177 platforms.

The case was brought before Justice Abdul Quddus, with Advocate Vijayan Subramaniam representing the petitioners. Subramaniam argued that Japan is slated for a global release across a thousand theatres, emphasising its substantial production budget. An illegal release would incur significant losses, impacting the film’s cast and crew.

Following the argument, the judge ruled in favour of a ban on the film’s illegal release and directed service providers to take necessary measures to prevent unauthorised distribution.

Japan is an action-comedy Tamil film directed by Raju Murugan, featuring Karthi and Anu Emmanuel in lead roles, supported by SD Vijay Milton, KS Ravi Kumar, and Sunil. Produced by SR Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures, the film boasts music by GV Prakash Kumar and is scheduled for theatrical release on November 10.

Director Raju Murugan, discussing the film in an interview, mentioned its departure from his usual genre, describing it as a delightful exploration. He expressed confidence in lead actor Karthi’s ability to embody the character, praising the actor’s swift agreement to join the project. Murugan highlighted ongoing discussions with Karthi regarding the character’s nuances and development.
