Tamil actor and director G Marimuthu passed away on Friday due to a cardiac arrest. He was 57 years old. The News18 Tamil team reached out to a childhood friend of the actor, who talked about the memories they had when they were younger.

A school friend of the late actor Marimuthu shared some childhood experiences they had with the audience, he said, “We all studied together. After class 10, Marimuthu joined the Polytechnic College in Sivakasi. Due to his love for cinema, he decided to drop out of his polytechnic course and leave for Chennai. This led to a difference of opinion between Marimuthu and his father. All of our friends stood by Marimuthu’s side. We sent him to Chennai.”

He told the News18 team that even though he started getting success in his career, they remained friends. The shoot of his film Aranmanai Kili was happening in the Dindigul district, during which he made his friends stay at a hotel for a week and took them to meet the director of the film Rajkiran. His death has shocked me. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.” Actor Prasanna shared his condolences on the platform as well, he tweeted, “Deeply shattered to know the passing away of director G Marimuthu. We did #KannumKannum and #Pulivaal together. We had a brother-like bond. We agreed to disagree on many. His life wasn’t easy at all. As an actor finally, he was doing very well. He should’ve been there for a while longer. Sad. Rip.”

He left the world on the morning of September 8. The reports say that he collapsed suddenly while he was dubbing for his show called Ethir Neechal at a studio in Chennai. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
