Did Suniel Shetty And Anil Kapoor's Alleged Rivalry Stem From This Incident?
Suniel Shetty once came to know about Anil Kapoor’s snide comments about him.

Suniel Shetty is one of the widely accomplished actors in the Hindi film industry. He has many hit films like Mohra and Border to his credit. Suniel, however, had to endure many hardships during the beginning of his career. According to an IMDB report, before the release of Balwaan, Suniel had formed a special friendship with photographer JP Singhal. He would have Suniel’s pictures all over his studios. The report said that one day Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor came to shoot some publicity stills for their film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Upon seeing Suniel’s pictures, Anil stated: “Looks like anyone can become an actor now. Any local wrestler can join films today”. Eventually, Suniel came to know about these comments. He confronted Anil with these remarks and asked him what his problem was. Anil denied making these comments and stated he was misquoted. Suniel, however, stated he was not going to remain silent any longer and would stand up for himself.

Few years later, Anil’s film Laadla was released at the box office. There were rumours that the film was a flop. This was not true as the film was an average grosser at the box office. Anil always blamed Suniel for spreading those lies about Laadla. Anil thought Suniel had used his contacts with journalists to spread false stories about Laadla’s failure.

Today, at the prime of his acting career, Suniel also appreciates the success of his colleagues. In an earlier interview to a website, he said, “Today when I see Akshay and Ajay (Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn), I feel so proud, I salute them, they are very close friends of mine. Even today, they inspire me by what they have achieved. I am not jealous, I have made mistakes that is why I am here. I appreciate both the actors, and I wish I was like them. For that I need to work hard.”

As of now, Suniel is eagerly anticipating some much-hyped films in his acting lineup. He will act in the film Hera Pheri 3, directed by Farhad Samji. In a chat with Hindustan Times, Paresh Rawal shared that Hera Pheri will be released in 2024.
