Late Sushant Singh Rajput was one of the critically acclaimed actors in the Hindi film industry. He is remembered for his acting prowess in the films Kai Po Che and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. January 21 marked his 38th birth anniversary. Besides acting, Sushant was a man of great academic brilliance. This is evident in how he secured AIR 7 in the 2003 AIEEE examination. With such an impressive rank, Sushant secured admission to Delhi Technological University, New Delhi. At this University, he enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Physics National Olympiad winner and managed to clear more than seven engineering entrance exams. He eventually left engineering and found his calling in acting. Sushant Singh Rajput continued his glorious journey in Bollywood before he died by at 34, reportedly by suicide. This space articulates his journey in the film industry.
Sushant was born in Maldiha in Purnea district of Bihar. His family, however, left Maldiha after his mother Usha Singh died in 2002. He went to Delhi for studies and finished his schooling at the Kulachi Hansraj Model School. Sushant enrolled himself in choreographer Shiamak Davar’s classes. He soon joined the choreographer and became a background dancer for his troupe. Sushant then went on to feature in the song, Dhoom Again from Dhoom 2. He then went to Mumbai to start his career as an actor and acted in some plays done by the Ekjute theatre group. Actress Juhi Babbar manages this theatre group along with another actress and her mother, Nadira Babbar. While acting in plays, he also did some odd jobs to meet the expenses.
While acting in the plays, Sushant was called for an audition by the production house Balaji Telefilms. He was eventually selected for the serial Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. He played the role of Preet Juneja in this daily soap. It was, however, the serial Pavitra Rishta that catapulted him to fame. His character Manav Deshmukh became a household name with the popularity of that serial. He soon became one of the prominent stars of Bollywood with films Kedarnath and Sonchiriya.
