Kamalamma, a retired teacher living in Saraswati Barangay of Davangere, has created a wax statue in memory of her daughter, who lost her battle with cancer. The statue has been placed in their home in her honour. Kavya, who worked after finishing her engineering degree, battled cancer for four years before passing away on December 10, 2022. Despite her four-year struggle, she passed away just before her wedding in April-May 2019.
Before her death, Kavya expressed her desire to her mother, Kamalamma, to make a wax statue in her memory. Following Kavya’s request, Kamalamma created the wax statue, now serving as a memorial.
The Bengaluru-based artisan Vishwanath from Bangalore has crafted a 4-foot tall, 25 kg idol made of silicon wax, costing Rs 3 lakhs. Teacher Kamalamma inspires others with her life story. Despite the heartbreaking loss of her daughter Kavya to cancer, Kamalamma created a lifelike silicon idol in her memory. She also bought a piece of land to establish a garden where Kavya now rests.
Kavya, an accomplished individual with a BE degree, worked in Bengaluru for two years before succumbing to cancer.
Kamalamma, who served as a government teacher for 27 years, honours Kavya’s birthday by helping orphans following her daughter’s wish. She emphasizes that demonstrating immense love for her daughter means fulfilling Kavya’s wishes and engaging in acts of kindness for humanity. Kamalamma finds a meaningful way to cope with her grief through these kind gestures.
Proudly unveiling the statue at Kalyana Mandapam, Kamalamma went the extra mile by also writing a book in honour of Kavya.
In Hyderabad, last year a bride was deeply moved when she discovered a lifelike wax statue of her late father on her wedding day. The heartfelt surprise was orchestrated by the bride’s brother, Phani Kumar, who arranged for the statue to bring the presence of their departed father, Avula Subramanayam, to the wedding.
