The Dodge Viper can go from 0-100 km/h in under four seconds and now it can also claim to go from 206-to-zero examples in under four days; such has been the demand from customers and collectors for its 25th-anniversary models.
That's right, each of five different special 25th-anniversary edition Dodge Vipers have been sold out. Designed to celebrate a different milestone in the most muscular of muscle car's history and to say "goodbye" to the model (2017 is the final production year), demand for the car, which usually struggled to compete alongside more refined sports cars like the Corvette, has taken everyone, including Dodge, by surprise.
"From just 40 minutes to five days, the 25th Anniversary special edition Dodge Vipers sold out incredibly fast, ensuring their future collectability," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars - Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA - North America.
The car that was fastest out the door was the 1:28 Edition ACR (American Club Racer), with all 28 planned examples being snapped up in just 40 minutes. But even those cars with larger runs that will be potentially less collectable in the future proved just as popular. All 31 examples of the VoooDooo II Edition went in two hours and the 100 examples of the GTS-R Commemorative Edition ACR sold out in two days.
However, if you happened to be potential owner number 207 and discovered all the Vipers had gone, there is good news. "Our customers are asking, so we're adding one more special edition – the Dodge Viper Snakeskin ACR," Kuniskis said.
Like its sold-out brethren, this Viper draws inspiration from a past glory, which in this case is the original Snakeskin American Club Racer edition launched in 2010.
It will come with a snakeskin green exterior with a snakeskin patterned SRT stripe. The car will have the full carbon ceramic brake and extreme aero package and inside the instrument panel will carry the model number and a snakeskin badge. The final touch is a custom car cover that matches the car's paint job and is replete with the owner's name.
And like the original Snakeskin Viper, this model is also capped at 31 examples.
