SHARDIYA NAVRATRI 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers to Maa Chandraghanta, the third form of Goddess Durga, on the third day of Navratri, today on Tuesday, October 17. He also shared on X, formerly Twitter, a video of Goddess Chandraghanta stuti. In his post in Hindi, PM Modi wished that “with the blessings of the Goddess, the fame and glory of the countrymen should continuously increase.”

The stuti begins with a description of Maa Chandraghanta’s beauty and power. It then goes on to praise her for her courage, strength, and compassion. The stuti also invokes the goddess’s blessings for peace, prosperity, and happiness for all.

NAVRATRI AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE

Navratri, one of the most vibrant and revered festivals in India, spans nine nights and ten days. It celebrates the divine feminine energy, embodied by Goddess Durga, who is worshipped in her various forms during this period.

Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a different manifestation of the Goddess, and the third day is when devotees pay homage to Maa Chandraghanta. The celebrations started on October 15, and will continue till October 23.

GODDESS CHANDRAGHANTA: THE THIRD AVATAR OF DURGA

Goddess Chandraghanta is the third manifestation of Maa Durga, and her name, “Chandra” (moon) and “Ghanta” (bell), signifies her unique appearance with a crescent moon adorning her forehead. The crescent moon is not only a symbol of beauty but also represents the constant evolution and transformation of life.

Maa Chandraghanta is depicted with ten hands, each holding different weapons and symbols, radiating strength, courage, and protection. Her complexion is said to be golden, signifying grace and prosperity.

On the third day of Navratri, devotees seek the blessings of Maa Chandraghanta for inner peace, bravery, and protection from negativity. Her grace empowers individuals to overcome obstacles and face life’s challenges with fortitude.

PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI’S SPIRITUAL CONNECT

PM Modi, known for his deep spiritual and cultural roots, has consistently demonstrated his devotion to Hindu deities and rituals. His visit to the Kedarnath Temple, the Badrinath Temple, and his participation in various religious ceremonies underline his commitment to India’s rich heritage.

Modi’s gesture of offering prayers to Maa Chandraghanta and sharing the stuti video, is a testament to the significance of this festival and the importance of faith and spirituality in the lives of millions of Indians.

As Navratri continues to unfold, devotees across the nation look forward to celebrating the other manifestations of Goddess Durga, seeking her blessings for a life filled with strength, peace, and prosperity.

The Prime Minister’s actions serve as an inspiration and a reminder of the values that this festival represents – a celebration of the divine feminine energy and an expression of devotion, faith, and inner strength.
